About the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

The Moderna vaccine is an mRNA injection that requires two doses, 28 days apart. Our friendly staff will help you schedule your second dose that is crucial to giving you strong, ongoing immunity.

The Moderna vaccine is recommended for people aged 18 years and older.

Prior to receiving the vaccine, be sure to let us know if you:

  • Are pregnant or are trying to conceive
  • Are breastfeeding
  • Have allergies
  • Feel feverish
  • Are on a blood thinner or have a bleeding disorder
  • Have a weakened immune system
  • Have received another COVID‑19 vaccine

Booster Shots

The CDC has approved booster shots for ages 18 years and up, and can be administered 6 months after completing the second vaccine. You may choose which COVID-19 vaccine you receive as a booster shot. Some people may prefer the vaccine type that they originally received, and others may prefer to get a different booster. CDC’s recommendations now allow for this type of mix and match dosing for booster shots.

Common Side Effects of the Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine

Any side effects are usually mild to moderate. Side effects result from your immune system reacting to the vaccine, which confirms that the vaccine is working.

Side effects reported with the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine include:

  • Injection site pain, swelling, and/or redness
  • Fatigue
  • Headache
  • Muscle and/or joint pain
  • Chills, fever, and/or nausea
  • Swollen lymph nodes

These side effects usually start within a day or two of getting the vaccine. They might feel like flu symptoms and might even affect your ability to do daily activities, but they should go away in a day or two.
